Changes circular motion of sector shaft into linear motion
Pitman arm is one of the steering parts for automobiles or trucks. It is connected to steering box’s sector connection shaft, and changes circular motion of sector shaft into linear motion needed for turning tires along with swing arm that is connected to center link.
Usually when car is turning, drivers will apply steering torque on steering wheel. This torque will go through steering shaft, transmission shaft, and diverter. After enlarged by diverter, the torque will be sent into pitman arm, and will be sent to steering knuckle and steering knuckle arm by drag link. Finally, the torque will be sent into wheel hub; thus making the tires turn.
